Departure from the Acajutla Port to Joya de Ceren archaeological site at 75 kilometers from the port. These it was a Mayan farmer village declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and also known with the Pompeii of America for his important contribution to the archaeology. 1400 years ago, the Caldera volcano was eruption buried the village of volcanic ash, conserving today some housing structures, a Mayan sauna, a chaman´s house and many ceramics of the era. Joya de Ceren is part of the fabulous Maya World an unique in Mesoamerica. Then we continue to visit El Boquerón National Park located at 1800 meters above sea level in the San Salvador volcano. The principal attraction of the park is the huge crater of 1.5 kilometers of diameter and 558 meters of deep. Also there is a little crater called “Boqueroncito” in middle of the huge crater, its last eruption was in 1917, nowadays this volcano is not active. Hiking by the surround of the crater with impressive views of the flora and fauna local. Visit to the “El Boqueron Museum” where we can to know the history of the zone.
